Johnny is a versatile musician with years of experience performing and teaching music. He previously took lessons from the Conservatory for a year before heading to Edmonton's MacEwan University to study music. He graduated in 2014 with a Diploma in Music, majoring in Composition. After graduation, he moved to Regina where he worked as an architectural designer for an architectural firm and as a guitar instructor for Long & McQuade. He has performed in music festivals, cafes and corporate events all around Saskatchewan as part of a group and as a solo performer.
Besides music, his other passion in life is travelling. During his two years of wandering the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand, he taught music and performed with musicians from different countries and cultures. His fondest memory from his travels was busking on the Australian city streets and performing in open mic nights with his travel mates. It was during his travels that he truly appreciated music as a common language that connects people from all over the world, regardless of language or background.
Johnny has now returned home to Medicine Hat and is eager to share his knowledge and experiences to all his students. Whether one's interest lies in blues, rock, jazz, or contemporary pop music, or learning theory, composition, or arranging, he aims to show how learning and performing music can enrich a person's life.
